Entry of Portuguese nationals into Norway decreases for the second consecutive year
Inês Vidigal
According to Statistics Norway data, in 2024, 641 Portuguese entered the country. That statistical institute counted a total of 58,814 entries of foreigners in Norwegian territory, with the Portuguese representing 1.1% of this total. +

After a decrease in the entry of Portuguese nationals into Norwegian territory in 2023 (-9.6%), emigration to this country declined once again in 2024 (-9.6%). This decrease is accompanied by a drop in the total number of immigrants entering Norway (-26%). The lowest value in the time series analysed (2001-2024) was in 2003, when only 55 Portuguese entered Norwegian territory, and the highest in 2013, when 815 Portuguese entered the country. Portuguese emigration to Norway is a recent phenomenon and the number of Portuguese entering Norway still represents a very small fraction of immigration to the country (1.1%).
