In this lecture given by Professor Michael Skey, the concept of cosmopolitanism, and the importance of the existence of the nation in the struggle for a sense of belonging, identity and security in today's global context is addressed and questioned. To this end, two macro-sociological perspectives are addressed: orthological security and (rational) everyday life versus the status of the ethnic majority; the conditions of belonging are also questioned and defined.
