In this lecture given by Professor Thomas Faist, it is presented how the new social issue finds its expression in movements of people in search of a better life or flight from unsustainable social, political, economic and ecological conditions, and that it is transnational because of the links that exist across the borders of national states. It also addresses both the social structure and politics of social inequalities, and the importance of research into the transnational social issue.
