Emigration to Italy followed the general decrease trend of Portuguese emigration in 2020. The entry of Portuguese in Italy registered a fall of 18.8%, however, the decrease of the Portuguese is lower than the fall of the total entries in the country (-25.6%). In 2019, Portuguese emigration to Italy recorded the highest value of this decade, having grown by 9.1% compared to the previous year. Over the time series under analysis (2000-2018), the number of Portuguese entries in Italy had a minimum value in 2002 (297 entries) and a maximum value in 2007 (594 entries). However, Portuguese emigration to Italy still represents a very small fraction of both immigration in this country (0.2%) and total Portuguese emigration (less than 1%).
