Since 2000, the number of Portuguese inflows into the United Kingdom has been steadily increasing, more pronounced and significant since 2010. Over the period under review, there were two declines: the first, between 2004 and 2006, when inflows went from 13,850 to 9,700; the second in 2009 and 2010, similar to the one that occurred in emigration to other countries, in the context of the global financial crisis. In 2013, by contrast, there was a large increase in the number of inflows, reaching, for the first time, values above 30,000. In 2016, the first decrease (-5.4%) is registered since 2010, but the inflows remain higher than those registered in 2013.
