Compared to the same period in 2021, the number of Portuguese who entered the UK decreased by 41%, from de 13,551 in 2021, to 7,941, in 2022. The total number of migrant entries into the UK reached a record high for the period under analysis (1,055,283 entries in 2022). This increase in the total number of entries and the decrease in Portuguese entries, meant a decrease in the representation of Portuguese nationals on British territory, only in 2001 was there a lower figure. This fall is likely to be associated with the new immigration rules for the United Kingdom post-Brexit.
